Get Involved

There are many ways you can help Walking Shield assist American Indian families in need. If you would like to receive email updates from Walking Shield, please contact us.

Monetary Donations

As a charitable 501(c)3 organization, any donations given are tax deductible. Monetary donations
enhance and support the organization’s operation. Even a seemingly small amount can go a long way in making a difference. To make a financial donation click here.

Walking Shield also has an established partnership with Albertsons grocery store chain. For information on linking your current Preferred Savings Card please visit www.albertsons.com/cp/ and follow the instructions. Every time you make a purchase in one of the numerous Albertsons locations a portion of the money spent will come directly back to support our vital programming.

Volunteering

Walking Shield has numerous volunteer opportunities. Contact us for current opportunities.

In-kind Donations

Throughout the year, Walking Shield also gathers new, in-kind donations for distribution including:  hygiene products, clothing, blankets, toys, baby supplies, computers and educational items. You can help by organizing a supply drive at your school, place of employment, where you worship, or in your neighborhood. For the summer months, Walking Shield’s humanitarian aid efforts focus on the approaching school year. Items such as backpacks and school supplies are particularly welcome. During the fall and winter, Walking Shield gathers blankets, warm clothes, and toys for distribution.

Developing Partnerships

In addition to individual and community group support, much of Walking Shield’s long term funding is derived from private corporations, foundations and government agencies.  Many of our corporate sponsors encourage their employees to give to Walking Shield and often match these initial donations.   Walking Shield is always looking for opportunities to develop new grant partnerships.  If you have a connection to a possible funding source through a friend or family member introduce them to our staff.

Planned Giving

Walking Shield has partnered with the OCCF to provide a variety of planned giving options. Check out our brochure for further information.

Tell Others About Walking Shield

One final way to assist Walking Shield is to simply help spread the word about the agency and the essential services we provide.  Provide a link to our website from your organization’s webpage. Send an e-mail link to friends and family so they can learn more about Walking Shield and the important work that we do.

These are just a few ways you can support Walking Shield in improving the quality of life for our nations American Indians.  Please contact us today for any further information you might need.  Thank you for your support and consideration.
